Unlike some other ancient languages, biblical Hebrew has only one word for love, ahava.  In this presentation I hope to explore some aspects of how the Bible relates to human love and its relationship to heterosexual family life.  Texts from Genesis, Hosea, and Song of Songs will be provided and studied.  In the 21st century, we are exposed to a long history of different concepts of love, from the romantic to the frivolous, and beyond.  For a brief session, we will look at ancient notions of love and sex, hoping that they can be read into our own lives today.
