REGISTRATION and the Coat Room are on the 27th Floor along with many of the sessions. The Children’s Program, Lunch Room, Limmud Café and rooms E1, G3 and G4 are on the 16th Floor. There is easy access between the floors by 6 large elevators.

Migrations: The Encounter of Birds and Israelites in the Wilderness

The geography of Israel provides a land bridge which hosts the world's second largest bird migration of 500 million birds each year, using the route of the Rift Valley through the Arava to Europe and Asia. When I witnessed this phenomenon a number of years ago, I realized that this migration would have also been witnessed by generations of the area's inhabitants, going back to ancient and Biblical times. I wondered if the impact of this awesome sight affected the wandering Israelites, and sought clues and references in textual sources, including Torah and Midrash. In my presentation, I will share my findings and my excitement in discovering the impact the spectacle of the migrating birds had on our migrating ancestors.
