To say that we believe in God is dangerous. Naïve, at best quaint. But why? Why do I even care about this whole unknowable piece we call God. Where did that word come from? How is it that it has ebbed and flowed through our remarkably short human history. Some say we have invented God; others say God has invented us. We are given a choice, I believe, to bend our knee to the majestic unfolding of the universe or build our towers through the sky.. Without God we lack humility. As the saying goes: We can worship one God in many worlds or many Gods in one world. My fear is that we have thrown God out in a fit of hubris. This hour together is my small attempt to move us from the profane, silly God to the four letter word for the holy, YHVH, that is the breathing in and out of life.
